CMP Mining in Our Operations and Our CMP Programs

We believe in the combination of traditional skills and local knowledge of contract mining partners with the technology, infrastructure, and access to capital, of large-scale miners like Aris Mining. This mining model is key for the future of our industry and its integration into the social structure of host countries paramount.

In 2012 and 2013 — in collaboration with the government and mining authorities and the Segovia Mayor’s office — Aris Mining started its interactions with the small mining community working in mines in the vicinity of our Segovia Operations in order to establish a positive relationship and help them improve their activities. A health and safety baseline for the small-scale mining community was established with the help of the Agency for International Development (USAID), which was considered a very important first step in establishing this collaboration. And we have been committed to this strategic collaboration ever since.

The specialized training given by Aris Mining’s technical and logistics team to CMPs on topics such as production, quality control and financial support has been a key element in our collaboration. Establishing relationships with CMPs has yielded positive change and fostered shared values. We benefit from the contribution of trained local miners, while local miners benefit from increased safety, better working conditions and fair compensation.

Our collaboration encompasses environmental safeguards, logistical improvements such as access to explosives and mitigates risks inherent in the gold production supply chain.
